Quality in Medical Care
Excellence in Medical Tourism
Designed for providers actively serving global and local medical travelers through planned medical travel and aiming for top-tier recognition.
Prerequisites for Excellence in Medical Tourism accreditation:
- Conduct business as a licensed healthcare provider in your country for at least one completed financial year.
- Manage medical and non-medical services with a Continuous Quality Improvement system.
- Your “International Patient Department” offers comprehensive services including: pre-travel, on arrival, inpatient treatment, discharge, and post-treatment follow-up.
- Manage international patients and domestic medical travelers for at least two years.
- Assure 24/7 access to multilingual staff (or interpreters) for patients and relatives.
- At least 10 % of your inpatients are domestic medical travelers and/or international patients.
- Your organization’s practices are in accordance with international standards of medical ethics, as stated in the World Medical Association (WMA) International Code of Medical Ethics.

The “Excellence in Medical Tourism” accreditation automatically includes the “Quality in Medical Care” certificate – successful organizations receive both certificates.

- Your organization’s practices are in accordance with international standards of medical ethics, as stated in the World Medical Association (WMA) International Code of Medical Ethics.
If you have ticked all 3 boxes, you are eligible to apply for “Quality in Medical Care” accreditation. If not, please contact us to review your options.

Quality in Outpatient and Ambulatory Care
The recommended program for medical facilities that are providing diagnostic, preventive, or therapeutic care and specialized services without being admitted overnight or day surgery centers that perform surgical procedures with an observation for up to 24 hours.
Prerequisites for accreditation “Quality in Outpatient Care – Ambulatory Care including Cosmetic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery”:
- Your services are restricted to day surgery and/or procedures that do not require more than one overnight stay.
- Conduct business as a licensed healthcare provider in your country for at least one completed financial year.
- Manage medical and non-medical services with a Continuous Quality Improvement system.
- Your organization’s practices are in accordance with international standards of medical ethics, as stated in the World Medical Association (WMA) International Code of Medical Ethics.
PLEASE NOTE: If your services include more than one overnight stay or if you offer inpatient services, your organization will be considered to be a secondary care hospital.
