Dr. Klaus Schäfer

Dr. Schäfer started working as paramedic for the Bavarian Red Cross in Munich in 1980. He began studying philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in 1983, changing to medicine in 1984. During his studies he continued working on intensive care units of a local university hospital. After graduation in medicine and two years in hospital he returned to transporting patients, this time as an emergency doctor, before joining ADAC-Ambulance Service in 1993.
Deputy medical director from 1995 to 1997 and medical director from 2001 to 2005 at present Dr. Schäfer is assistance and travel medicine consultant at ADAC Ambulance Service.
He was involved in several disaster missions (earthquake in Turkey in 1999, tsunami in Asia in 2004/05) and has experience in hospital site surveys in different countries.
